Note: ALBA will be contacting you as soon as possible after receipt of this
application (usually within two weeks) regarding admission to the program,
as well as financial aid if applicable. Upon admission, you will also be
invoiced for the total (net) cost of the program (tuition and fees plus
accommodation charges less any financial aid), of which a $500
(non-refundable) fee deposit ($300 for summer) must be paid for processing
costs, normally within 30-60 days of notification, with the balance due no
later than 30 days prior to the beginning of term, unless other arrangements
have been agreed. Otherwise, admission may be subject to cancellation.
After we receive the deposit, you will be enrolled in the ALBA Program, and
officially with Portland State University for transcripting purposes. We
will also send you at that time a Pre-arrival Packet containing information
about Barcelona, including contact numbers for your use, along with a
request for additional information (such as photos) from you.
Upon arrival in Barcelona, unless your travel arrangements have been
unexpectedly altered, ALBA representatives will normally be able to meet and
escort you to your homestay or other accommodation if you prefer. The next
day ALBA holds its first orientation session, at which you will meet your
fellow students and the Program Coordinator(s), and receive an Orientation
Packet containing additional useful information, along with a discussion of
various aspects of life and study in Barcelona; all followed by lunch.
Classes begin the next day, with language placement in the morning.
